MUGA sports facility

As a Devonport community led organisation, PEMB is very aware that the current multi use (MUGA) recreational space holds fond memories for many local people, who remember when it was in good condition.

PEMB have organised youth activities for many years and made full use of this site for sports coaching and other activities, as have other local organisations. Although it is used far less today, PEMB truly recognises the value of this recreational space. We do not intend to propose disposing of this valuable community resource.

However, we do see an opportunity to modernise this facility. As you can see from the images, the site is in dire need of improvement, even if it isn’t for housing. By moving it to a new location to the rear of Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre and investing funds in a new playing surface and the installation of new lighting, the community could benefit from an upgraded safer community space.    

PEMB continues to offer youth work sessions for both primary and secondary school aged young people. These sessions take place at the Mount Wise Neighbourhood Centre, adjacent to the current MUGA.

Young people will be invited to contribute their thoughts and ideas for relocating and modernising the MUGA facility. It is hoped that a youth led campaign will provide the basis for fundraising activity to meet the cost of moving and improving this facility.
