Pembroke Estate Management Board

Pembroke Estate Management Board Ltd (PEMB) is a not for profit community led company, established in 1994.  Residents had campaigned since the late 1980’s to secure Government funding to refurbish the Pembroke Street estate after years of neglect, high levels of crime and unemployment. Find out more here.

PEMB manages the Pembroke Street estate including repairs and maintenance, allocations and lettings, tenancy management and management of anti social behaviour cases.

In addition PEMB also offers a range of youth and community activities either directly or by supporting other organisations to offer these services.

PEMB is a ‘tenant managed organisation’ which means that residents on Pembroke Street are the company members and can be nominated to sit on the Board of Directors. Resident Directors have a majority say on key decisions and are supported by other co-opted non resident Directors.

Every five years, Government regulations require all tenant managed organisations to hold a secret ballot of members to determine whether there is support for the organisation to continue to fulfil its housing management functions. PEMB has appreciated the support from residents members who have voted overwhelmingly in favour of PEMB continuing in the most recent ballot.
